BOTANICAL ENDEAVORS
Redwood Forest Bathing
Experience
Delight in being driven to the farthest inland coastal redwood grove in a California state park, protected since the 1960’s and containing 1,991 acres of native tree species. This 3 hour experience allows for an intimate guided stroll through old growth forests, surrounding yourself in nature and allowing its sounds and rhythms to wash over you. For those new to forest bathing, in the 1980s Japanese scientists started studying this enigmatic phenomenon. They found that natural immersion has many benefits—including lowering blood pressure, improving mood, and reducing stress. The practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, was born of this scientific data. Advance reservations required. Walking shoes, light sweater, and sunscreen are recommended. The walk is suitable for all fitness levels.
